I mostly use Linux Mint, which is similar but slightly different, so I don't remember the exact spot and name in Lubuntu off the top of my head. It's in the bottom left menu, under Preferences or Administration or something like that. Once you've plugged your machine into the router, you'll be able to use the built-in Driver Manager (or whatever Lubuntu calls it) to very easily download and install whatever driver or firmware is required to use your WiFi adapter. If on the other hand you haven't tried Ethernet yet, do so. When you say the network adapter doesn't work, do you mean even Ethernet somehow doesn't work? As a computer technician, I've used Linux distros (usually Ubuntu-based) on many machines and Ethernet has always worked out of the box.
